Birthday Update & pics

Well I had a really good bithday. Yesterday we got together with my grandparents and aunt and uncle and cousins and celebrated mine and my unlce's birthdays. Then today we celebrated my birthday by going out to the Olive Garden for lunch. I had the BEST lunch ever! Fettuccini Alfredo!!!!! From my parents I got a bible and money for my birthday and from my brother I'm going to get the James Blunt CD. So here are a few pics from the past few weeks that I've finally decided to put on the computer.

I love having a digital camera! I've taken so many pics of myself with it (ok, so now I sound vain) but it's just a lot of fun to play with...and thank goodness for the delete button! So here are some pics I've taken with it. The first pic is me and my friends Audrey (l) and Sara (r). I went with them to a girls highschool basketball game that night. It was SO fun! And the school that I'm going to next year (Warwick) was playing the school that my friend Sara goes to (Ephrata) so I was cheering for Warwick, even though I was sitting in the wrong section, and she was cheering for Ephrata. I even wore school colors! Go me! Sara's like you better watch out, you're in the wrong section to be cheering for Warwick. I'm like I don't care! Too bad Warwick only lost by one point but it was a really close game. The second pic is of all the girls in my cabin at the retreat. The next pics is me in my cabin and the last pic is one of the many that I was having fun with.

Happy Birthday to me!

YAY!!!! I am turning 17 today! *throws confetti* I'll let you know what I get! XOXO Kait

Bosnia

My friend invited me to a play that they were doing at her school about Bosnia. It's called "Torba." It was REALLY good and very accurate. It was about a woman who went over to Bosnia to help during the war. Really great play!

I MISS BOSNIA!!!

Great book!

Hey! Haven't posted for a while but there's really nothing new to say except that I've been studying to take my test to get my permit and I was going to get it on Monday when we realized that we didnt' have my social security card with us...it's with all our other stuff in Kansas City. So I can't get it until February. I WANT TO DRIVE SO BAD!!!!

Anyways, I'm reading The Adventures of Tom Sawyer by Mark Twain for school and I just have to say that it is one of the funnest books to read. If you've never read this book, I reccommend it! This is my favorite part of the book, "Tom was like the rest of the respectable boys, in that he envied Huckleberry his gaudy outcast condition and was under strict orders not to play with him. So he played with him every time he got a chance." I love reading about him because does the exact opposite of what he's supposed to do!

Well that's about all I have to say for now. Next week I will be 17!!!!! YAY!!!

Update

Hi all!

I've been working really hard on school this week and I'm almost all caught up so I thought I'd tell ya whats happening with me. Well my mouth is pretty much back to normal...no more chipmunk cheeks and the stitches are coming out! Right now I'm reading "Blue Like Jazz" and I'm LOVING it! It's like nothing I've ever read before. First of all Don Miller is so real. In every chapter he tells of the things he's learned from experience or other people and he always says what his weaknesses are which really helps me to understand that some of the things I've had trouble with are normal. It's so refreshing to read about someone who says that they don't have everything together, that they've figured everything out, and also someone who is really accepting of others just as they are. He's also very funny, I've never read a book on Christian spirituality that contained humor before...well...I've never read a book on Christian spirituality before because I always thought that they'd be overly philisophical and BORING! But not this one. I highly reccommend this book!
Anyways...we're looking for cars now and a house. Yesterday we went house shopping and looked at this one house for almost 2 hours! It's a duplex and a fixer-upper, but that's what my dad really wanted, to be able to make something that needed some work look really nice. I loved the house especially because of the great wood floors upstairs but we don't know if we'll get it yet because we would need to put in a kitchen and bathroom and re-do the upstairs bathroom as well as creating a room for Nate in the awesomely large attic. So if you could pray for us to find a house and cars it would be greatly appreciated!
Next weekend Nate and I have the opportunity to go on our youth group's winter retreat. We're both excited but are a little nervous cuz we don't know many people but hopefully we'll have a great time! Well I better get back to writing my essay...I had it all written when I was going over the checklist for it and found out that it has to be 700-1000 words! UG! I had 482! Well have a good week everyone!
