work and monotony

I know, I know...I haven't posted in a while. That's because I pretty much don't have anything new to share. It's not that I'm not busy, it's that I go from extreme boredom and non-business to being busy with work. It's an unending cycle! This coming week is the first week that I work a lot of hours...31 hours to be exact! Yesterday I worked my first 8 hour shift ever! I was totally exhausted by the end, but since it was Sunday the store was pretty busy which is nice cuz it makes the time go a bit faster. I'm getting the hang of using the cash register and can usually get through a few orders with no problems...until I accidentally punch in the wrong code for the produce or scan an item twice...then I have to call a checkout coach, so they're probably kind of tired of me...but oh well that's what they're there for.

It's so crazy, last night right before I went to bed, I could hear the sound of the scanner ringing up an item over and over and over again. I'm like AHHHHHHHHHHHHH I CAN'T GET AWAY FROM IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I'm really glad I have this job, I can save for college and have some extra spending money! So life is pretty good right now.

God's ways are so...amazing

Ya know how you hear people say that God spoke to them? Well, I had never experiened that, even though I believed it happened. A night ago, I was sleeping peacefully but I got up at 4 to go to the bathroom. Usually I can fall back asleep fairly quickly, but this night it just was not happening. I tried everything! First I just layed there to see if sleep would come, but to no avail. Then I tried counting sheep but after counting about 4 sheep, I began to get bored of that so I decided to read my book. I read for quite a while and after a trip downstairs, I was tired enough to finally sleep.

A few weeks ago, a family that is really good friends with ours has a daughter that just graduated from college so we went to the party and at the party each of us was asked to give her advice as she is venturing out into the work force. Well this all came back to me in my dream except their son (who is my age) was having a birthday party and we were again asked to give him advice (I don't know why, but all I can say is it was a dream!). When it came to my turn, I was lost as to what advice to give when all of a sudden, it came to me. Don't waste your time. WHAT!?! Why should I be giving him that advice when I don't even follow it myself?

When I woke up from the dream I had this sense that through my confusing dream God was trying to speak to me. I had an epiphany! Recently, I had read in Blue Like Jazz that one of the ways the devil gets us off the path of following Christ is to divert our attention, getting us to waste time. There are many ways to waste time, but I find that the way in which I waste time the most is in what I think about. Many times what I think about on a daily basis will not matter a year from now, month from now or even tomorrow. So my dream challenged me to think about things that do matter and that will last.

LOL!

Let me explain something first and then I'll tell you the story. Before coming back to America, I bought some fish-net stockings in BIH. I'm like these are great! So I planned on wearing them in America sometime, but was advised by Larissa and Kelly that I should NOT wear them to church because people might think I'm a slut! Well, those of you who know me well will know that instead of dissuading me from wearing them to church, it encouraged me to do that very thing. So...today I wore them to church! I can't believe I did it! Some people thought I looked cute, while others didn't say anything. I probably got a few interesting glances but I wasn't really paying attention anyways. Well that's my crazy story for today...just had to tell you all! LOL!

Summer fun

This past Sunday, the Edgars graced us with their presence by coming to visit us! All of us had such a great time with them. Monday we went to Philly (Philadelphia) and visited some historical sights and we all had a Philly cheese steak...SOOOOOO WONDERFUL! Then on Tuesday we went to Gettysburg to see the places where the Civil War took place. And on Wednesday we showed the Edgars around Lititz and Lancaster. It was SO great so see them, lots of laughs! As we were driving past some Amish boys, Mr. Edgar says "hey there go the price kids" LOL HAHA!!!

p.s. as of now I have my 50 hours of driving in, now I just have to practice parallel parking and pass the driving test!

SAT

So last saturday I took the SAT. What can I say...it was long, boring and they had the WORST chairs to sit in for 4.5 hours so by the end my butt was killing me! It went ok, but of course you never really know for sure how you did. I hope I did well on the essay, that was pretty easy. What I found funny was that at one point we had to copy out a few sentences that says taht we wouldn't discuss any part of the SAT with anyone...in CURSIVE! WHO WRITES IN CURSIVE ANYMORE? So theres a whole class of highschool students asking SAT giver-guy how to make an S or an I. Haha!
